Battlefield 3′s multiplayer open beta is due for release on the 29th of September.
Finally we are going to have the chance to have a crack at the latest game in the Battlefield franchise, the beta is set in Paris on the fantastic looking Operation Metro map.

Additional to a host of new features such as weapons mounting, advanced character animation, the new Frost Bite engine we have a welcome return of clans in the form of platoons and the ability to go prone.

If the feature list and the videos are to believed then it looks like Battlefield 3 is going to be the new benchmark within its genre.
Looking at the Battlefield pedigree this is almost a certainty, I can guarantee that Xbox Live and the Playstation Network are going to be strained on the 29th.
